What is Journalism?

I think this is my new blog after I vacum since 2 years ago, and hi there !!! welcome back to rai's log :)

let me introduce  my self first, Iam Raita and now I want to write blogs with journalism theme because now I've 6th semester. so I want to share to you about what is Journalism and my first assignment in journalism class today.

Journalism I think, is a process to collect news with the fact and also editing and publishing the news in article maybe in web, in magazine or news paper and etc. and my lecturer share the definition of journalism is the investigation and reporting of events, issues, and trends to a broad audience. maybe after we know about the definition, here we go to the variation of journalism there are about goverment, bussiness, arts and also entertainment. 

and after we learn about what is journalism and its variation. the lecturer instruct me to make a group pair and do the assignment to find the article about energy topic, agriculture, eco-friendly, social economy and many other. after we find the article we must analyze the article  with good structure and identify about its category or variation.

and from today's class, I want to share some vocabulary analysis maybe that can help us to learn some new words to add our knowledge. let it get started !

Summary The text :

In March 6^th 2023, I learn the first subject about journalism with Mrs Dwi Sloria Suharti. She explain about the definition of journalism, the type of journalism, variation of article  and also the sequence of article or news and give us the individual assignment and pair assignment.

Journalism I think, is a process to collect news with the fact and also editing and publishing the news in article maybe in web, in magazine or news paper and etc. and my lecturer share the definition of journalism is the investigation and reporting of events, issues, and trends to a broad audience. maybe after we know about the definition, here we go to the variation of journalism there are about goverment, bussiness, arts and also entertainment. But not just it, the lecturer also talk to us about the part of article that are headline, is the title of article. By line is the author of article, lead is the first sentence in article that contain 5W + 1H element, and quote is what someone said. After that we go to know about type of article there are news story that describe new event, and then editorial article where the author tell his opinion in this article, and the last we know about advertisement article that promotion something and paid by company.

After explain the material, the lecturer give us the assignment and instruct us to make a group pair and do the assignment to find the article about energy topic, agriculture, eco-friendly, social economy and many other. after we find the article we must analyze the article  with good structure and identify about its category or variation. Not only that, we have the individual assignment. We have to write vocabolury log that contain new word and analyze about the meaning and also part of speech. We also write the summary about todays material and give the reflection about the material.

Reflection :

On the first day I studied journalism, I was able to understand what are the contents and purposes of news being published in various forms of mass media. How difficult is it to be a journalist who must be careful in obtaining news sources, processing them into writing so that they can become information as well as increase knowledge and improve literacy culture, especially in Indonesia.

Therefore, from this first lesson I reflected on myself to be a wise human being in spreading information/news to others so as not to spread news that is not appropriate/hoax so that it will become a problem in the future.
